In twisted sheets, a cold sweat clings, A terror grips, the darkness sings. The man awakes, a gasp escapes, His heart a drum, a frantic pace.
The nightmare's grip, it holds him fast, A nameless fear, a chilling cast. He's chased by shadows, walls close in, No escape found, a chilling grin.
But wait, a thread, a glimmering light, A whispered thought that cuts the night. He wills his limbs, a surge within, To break the chains, the web of sin.
He lunges forth, a desperate cry, Tears the veil, the truth draws nigh. With one last burst, he breaks the hold, Waking gasp, the story's told.
He gasps for air, the sheets are damp, The room is still, a quiet lamp. The terror fades, a trembling breath, He's safe at last, released from death.
The window shows a calming dawn, A gentle light, the night withdrawn. He takes a deep, refreshing breath, The nightmare conquered, facing death.
Though shadows lurk in sleep's embrace, He'll fight them off, with newfound grace. For even in the darkest night, He knows the strength to find the light.
